JST Site Visit 2019

 Tokyo Institute of Technology COI site visit by JST was held on October 3 at Ookayama Campus.
On the day of the event, many people including Mr. Satoshi Koike, Visionary Leader of COI Vision 2, Dr. Hiroshi Komiyama, Chairman of COI STREAM Governing Committee, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and JST officials visited. On the Tokyo Tech side, Prof. Watanabe, Vice President Watanabe, Prof. Kuwata, Vice President, and Mr. Toshiyuki Hiroi Project Leader, Prof. Wakabayashi Research Leader, participating companies and institutions, and faculty members attended.

Following the opening remarks of Mr. Hiroi Project Leader, Prof. Wakabayashi Research Leader reported on the progress of our Research Center and especially themes approaching social implementation.
First, in “Empathy with Silent Voices of Animals”, Associate Professor Ito of Titech and Associate Professor Takeda of Shinshu University made presenation reating to the issues of diary industry, as well as participating companies, as well as Assistant Professor Ohashi from Stanford University, while live broadcasting from the ranch attached to Shinshu University. I explained the development situation together.
Next, regarding “Sympathy with Silent Voice in ‘Ba‘, i.e. communication filed ”, a measurement experiment with a small group using “SyncViewer” was demonstrated.

After a tour of the terahertz sensor laboratory, it was reported that the development status of ultra-low-power non-volatile memory logic and AI algorithms for IoT edge / AI devices that are the foundamental technology on of the earth inclusive sensing, including the activities of the PoC for common platform of social implementation.

Lastly, participants from the visionary team and the structured team of JST provided feedback and comments on our activitity. From now on, we would like to proceed our COI activities by incorporating these opinions raised in the meeting.
